Abstract

Accurate and timely information is essential for managing transactions and developing tourism. This study examines the role and impact of big data in improving coastal ecotourism performance. A mixed methods approach was used, involving twelve groups of respondents and two focus groups of big data experts. Themes for discussion and analysis were drawn from relevant literature. The results indicate that Big Data has the potential to benefit tourists and stakeholders by providing fast and accurate access to information. However, managing, storing, and retrieving big data poses challenges due to its large and growing volume. Tourists can access coastal tourism trend data. This includes general and ecotourism-based information to plan visits and businesses that meet market demand.
