Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to determine records management, the constraints faced in archives management, and solutions to overcome obstacles in archives management to support orderly administration at the Bistek Palembang Vocational School of Technology. This study used qualitative research methods. The source of data in this study is the Head of Administration Subdivision. Data collection techniques in this study used observation and interview techniques. The results of this study indicate that archive management uses a date system with procedures for checking, recording, sorting and storing archives. Obstacles that exist include officers who manage archives do not have skills or backgrounds who do not have special expertise in the field of archives and there is no special room to store archives that have been processed. in archive retrieval, from these results it is expected that the archive management system should use a date system and an alphabetic system, using a combination of these systems is more effective, after that it is better to implement procedures for indexing and marking archives, so that archives can be neatly arranged in one room and facilitate the retrieval of archives and it is advisable for the school to provide or utilize a special person who has the skills and background to manage these archives, provided with provision regarding archival procedures and it is also advisable to provide a special room for archives.
